Psalm 92 v 5.
Hi, I’m Lizette — a photographer who’s always hunting for those sneaky little moments everyone else zooms right past.
My love for photography kicked off back in the late ’80s on the Cape Flats, where my dad’s film camera was a rare guest at Christmas and birthdays. With film so expensive, one roll had to last the whole year — talk about making every click count! Those photos were pure gold. Then in 1996, I finally bought my own camera, a Minolta point-and-shoot, and suddenly I was the proud director of my very own nature documentary.
Fast forward to 2010 — with the kids off to school in the busy Highveld, I swapped the office chair for garden shoes and became a full-time stay-at-home mom. That’s when I started zooming in on life with my trusty Nikon D80, later upgraded to a Nikon D4. Early mornings in the garden turned into treasure hunts for dewdrops, rain-kissed leaves, and all sorts of creepy crawlies quietly waiting to be spotted and photographed, of course!
Since relocating to Overberg at the end of 2017, I have been surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains, ocean, and an abundance of birdlife. From whales to fynbos, the richness of this landscape continues to inspire my work and offers a profound reflection of God and His creation.
Photography has taught me patience, persistence, and an appreciation for the intricate beauty in everyday life — yes, even spider webs. While my passion lies in nature photography, I also offer professional event photography services, including milestone birthdays, corporate functions, matric dances, and other special occasions. These events not only support my creative journey but also give me the privilege of capturing meaningful moments for others.
I keep my edits minimal — what you see is what I saw. Transitioning to the Nikon Z9 has opened an exciting new chapter in my work, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon. Stay tuned!
